Lewis and Clerk College

Lewis & Clark College is a private college with a public conscience and a global reach. We celebrate our strengths in collaborative scholarship, international engagement, environmental understanding and entrepreneurial thinking. As we evaluate applications, we look for students who understand what we offer and are eager to contribute to our community. In one paragraph, please tell us why you are interested in attending Lewis & Clark and how you will impact our campus. - 500 words

The thirst for elitist education and the craving to be in a versatile fusion of cultural heritage fraught with opportunities and co-curricular activities compelled me to exploit all resources at my disposal to find a godsend college that not only fulfills but also outmaneuvers my hankerings.

The 137-acre campus is breath-taking! The motley of infrastructures, ranging from rigorous academics though art and music to sports, is a 'crème de la crème' holistically nurturing the students to become multi-talented, sagacious citizens of a global community. The student-to-faculty ratio of 12:1 and average class size of 17 students will provide an individualized learning experience with the professors being able to get in touch with my personal life. The edge-cutting ranking of the college ascertains that I would study with the nonpareil. Finance being a major concern I chose Lewis and Clark as it provides the requisite financial aid. Post-graduation job opportunities have also played a major role in channelizing my attention to attend your college.

In lieu of such a golden opportunity you will see that I duly repay my share.

Akin to other majors CS is intertwined with disciplines such as business, robotics, engineering, philosophy, communication etc. Near the end of my under-graduation I plan to initiate a project on Artificial Intelligence which will demand that students from all disciplines mentioned above collaborate and which would add to college's reputation and make the world a better place.

In my quest to study CS I'll go beyond the syllabus to discover the truths of the real world. Along with college courses I would pursue external certifications like include A+, Network+, Security+, CASP, OCA, OCP, CEH, LPT etc. These certifications would present me with the chance to interact with my mentors and peers regarding the doubts and discoveries. Also completing my senior year research work and project report would include collaboration with peers. Helping and receiving help with the assignments and freaking out after a hectic dash will create a stronger bond.

Through cultural diversity and religious acceptance I seek to foster universal fraternity and to dissolve the disparities that confine individuals to a faction. As a part of civic responsibility I would contribute to the college in ways such as helping with the library chores, assisting my juniors, resolving any conflicts (verbal/physical) that spring up, aiding the admin or specific department with computer related work or ANY OTHER task that I'm assigned.

I would want to initiate a campaign which aims at curbing global warming. There are multiple books and sheets of papers (assignments, scratch work, projects etc.) that each student requires per academic year. Not all is important after the year is over. All the 'scrap' and the material that is not required by students can be hoarded at the college. The useful materials should be sorted out and sent to the college/local library so that it can be reused while the futile should be recycled. This collection can serve the up-coming batches and/or cater to the needs of the under-privileged.
